Guest guest
I'm not sure it is possible to overcook TVP in a stew -- I put it in dry at the beginning. If you think the cooking mixture might be a bit dry you could add a bit of extra liquid, but I usually don't and just adjust after cooking if necessary. Go for it! Guest guest
What a SUPER idea!!! Wendy On Behalf Of quintmom Friday, April 07, 2006 8:49 AM Undisclosed-Recipient:; Hi, I'm not sure if you folks know about this product. It's called SoyaToo! Soy Whip. Food Fight and Pangea are the only ones I have found so far who carry it in the US though there may be other places too. I'm just not aware of the places. Pangea's cost is $5.99 with a shipping cost of the same amount for one can. You can order up to three cans for the same shipping charge. Food Fight's cost is $4.90 with a shipping cost of: $6.53 for one can, $7.30 for two or three cans. Below is Pangea's description of SoyaToo! Soy Whip: Happy Vegan Dance for Soy Whipped Cream! Every so often a product comes along that is so exciting it makes the Pangea staff do a happy vegan dance, and this is one of those products. This vegan soy whipped cream in a can is delicious and fun! It's great as a dessert topping and on fruit, pancakes, and waffles. (Or you can do what we did, and stand in front of the fridge squirting it directly into your mouth.) Just thought I'd let anyone who was missing whipped cream and wished they could have it for a special Easter dinner know. God's Peace, Gayle

Guest guest
I would like to suggest you all take a look at the books Sarah Kramer! Making Seitan with her recipe is so easy and tastes so good you just can't go wrong. It's much less expensive as well. I used to order from May Wah, but the cost of shipping is so expensive that I can no longer use them (much to my disappointment because my meat-eating dh loves the veggie prawns!). Guest guest
If you want a great and cheap way to make seitan-use Arrowhead Mills Wheat Gluten. The recipe is on the back. Very simple and delicious. As I have made it more and more I use different things in the broth such as wine. Experiment with other ingredients. Good Luck! Marcia Wendy <wwhite wrote: I would like to suggest you all take a look at the books Sarah Kramer! Making Seitan with her recipe is so easy and tastes so good you just can't go wrong. It's much less expensive as well. Guest guest
The most amazing seitan recipe I've ever encountered is the one for Jerk Seitan in Vegan With a Vengeance by Isa Chandra Moskowitz. Here's a link to her basic seitan recipe. Katie http://frugalveggiemama.blogspot.com Talk is cheap. Use Messenger to make PC-to-Phone calls. Great rates starting at 1 & cent;/min. I'm not sure about Jeanette but Ron and I met you and Dr. Watkins in January of this year at one of his 3 day seminars. We have remained in contact with him because I think he has a really good learning program particularly for beginners of raw foods.Elainebrenda.wilson-ward wrote: OKIE DOKIE, I'M GOING TO TRY IT THIS WAY. Guest guest
Hi Brenda. Sorry for the delay in responding to you but this is the first inquiry I have seen from you. I can certainly understand your confusion as a first time communicator because. I went through the same confusion when I sent my first email. To answer your question, yes, I do know Dr. Theodore Watkins very well. Even though I am now being treated at Help for Health clinic, Dr. Watkins is my primary physician. He is a very competent, committed medical doctor who practices preventive medicime using alternative modalities. He can be reached at 202-388-0992. His office is located at 323 15th St., N.E., Washington, DC. Good luck. Jeannette brenda.wilson-ward wrote: OKIE DOKIE, I'M GOING TO TRY IT THIS WAY. DO YOU MS JEANNETTE CARSON KNOWOF A DR. Guest guest
Hi Sarah! I'm formerly from Milwaukee after living there (and Waukesha area) for most of my life. I graduated from Alverno College and Waukesha South! I too have a partner who is a carni...so I'm busy making two meals all the time. Fortunately, eating veggie takes alot less time, but sometimes it's hard. I have a great low fat ratoullie recipe that I'm going to post this weekend. Plus, you can freeze it for quick meals...make a huge pot of it! I also bought Linda McCartney's cookbooks for some great ideas. I don't really care for the faux meat stuff...but I LOVE LOVE LOVE veggie burgers. Have you tried them grilled???? Yum yum! Welcome to the group! fellow Wisconsinite! Nancy Now located in Crivitz WI (the Northwoods!) _____ On Behalf Of Sarah Urban Friday, September 29, 2006 12:52 PM vegetarianslimming Hi everyone! I am new to this list so I am introducing myself. My name is Sarah. I am 31 and live in Milwaukee, WI. I am a vegetarian (for about 1 1/2 yrs) on the cusp of becoming a vegan. I am the only one in my household who is, as well as the only one I know that is veg, unfortunately. I have had some influence on some friends and family however, to at least decrease the amount of meat they eat. My boyfriend Tony, who is a carni through and through, will even indulge in a veggie burger or veggie chicken sandwich at least once a week. So at least I have that! =-) I am the one that does all the cooking in the house so I still have to cook meat. I wanted to join this list because it's nice to talk to others that I have this in common with. It's hard being the only veg you know. =-( Anyway, thank you for welcoming me to the list and I look forward to getting to know everyone! I like lime, lemon, tangerine, clementine, etc in my water, depending on what is in season. Remind me to tell you my bay leaf story if I haven't already..... Guest guest
Oh the bay leaf... I waited tables for years and years. I was a very good waitress, and I would end up with double and sometimes triple sections because I could handle it. During a U of M football post game Saturday rush, I served some man a bowl of soup. He got the bay leaf in it, and started to chew me out. I said 'Did you know, that is considered a sign of luck to get the bay leaf in your food?' and he said 'Really?' and I said 'Really!' He even left me a good tip. I totally made it up on the spot. Now it is family legend. He's probably telling his kids the same thing. I wasn't trying to be evil, but for goodness sake it was just a bay leaf...and I was busy. Amy
