Eaten vegetarian on and off for 38 years, " on " for the last 11 (though I still make some exceptions) - I think I don't like " labels " , if I say " I'm a vegetarian " then I become involved in an identity project and have to play at being a vegetarian. As it is, I cook and eat what seems right to me at the time and it's almost always vegetarian. Began eating spicy during college days when it was cool to eat the hottest Indian curry - later this taste was reinforced due to having acquired Indonesian family connections, but I have to be careful not to make it too spicy!
