Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I've read a news article on bbc.uk that says 2nd of February is National Potato Day .... Is this celebrated in UK or the whole of Europe? Is there an International Potato Day? Different countries celebrate POTATO Days on different days is it? Can anyone suggest a good article/site where I can read more about the 'POTATO DAY' thing? Thanks, Vanita.
Guest guest
Hi there, Vanita. Just to save time I'll re-send the applicable part of the message I sent in answer to this question on another list :-) Potato Day? I don't recall hearing of it before, but hey I was intrigued. Well, I googled and came up with UK urls which lead to info - I didn't see any for elsewhere in Europe but I made a point of googling for Potato Day Canada and Potato Day USA, and came across a couple of references to Potato Days. If you look, for eg., at http://42explore.com/potato.htm there's a suggestion that school children 'Organize A Potato Day Festival. Plan a day celebrating the history and importance of potatoes. Include a wide variety of events such as potato poetry, a potato play, potato parade, potato contests, etc. Include potato foods. You may get some more ideas from the Official Potato Days Festival from Barnesville, MN and Potato Days from Clark, SD.' So there ya go - not much help am I? LOL Fond of potatoes? Me, I can take them or leave them, but I do appreciate the thickening trick they do for soups and stews. Why the interest in Potato Day, if I may ask? Best love, Pat
