Guest guest
A tomato is a tomato. A tomatillo is a smaller, green vegetable that looks like a small tomato usually has a " husk " attached, also green, but that might be missing. In MX the tomatillo is called a tomato and the tomato is a jitomate. Just to confus you. In WI, before moving to MX I was able to get tomatillos during the summer in the regular market. You can easily find them at Mexican markets. In the US, maybe only during the summer, but they are also canned by Herdez. Guest guest
That is correct, a tomatillo is actually part of the berry family. I attempted to grow some and was overwhelmed by how much 1 plant produced. Luckily we too can get them year round in Los angeles. ~debi
Guest guest
One year I had so many tomatillo plants I just left them in the ground. You wouldn´t have believed what came up the following year! debi <debtinker wrote: That is correct, a tomatillo is actually part of the berry family.
