What's in spices do you have in YOUR spice cupboards today??? Have a quick look.

(This is

just meaning *spices*, not spice mixes, and not meaning herbs.)

Here we go for a quick look at mine - not complete by any means (I need to

shop).

allspice

anise

asafoetida

cardamom (pods and ground)

cayenne

celery seed

cinnamon (sticks and ground)

chillies (whole and flakes)

cloves (whole and bround)

coriander (seeds and ground)

fennel (seeds and ground)

fenugreek

mustard seed - brown

mustard seed - yellow

nutmeg (whole)

paprika - Spanish

peppercorns - green, red and black

turmeric

There may be some more hiding somewhere, but . . .

Okay, then, what have you got in yours??? Write in, write in, write in!!!

Best love, Pat

I think these are all spices. Please correct me, Pat. I am not listing

anything green, because that would be from leaves:

cayenne, which I use in a lot of things

small red peppers

Chili powder

paprika

Curry

Mustard powder

A Jamaican curry mix

Allspice

Cloves

Gumbo File??? – not sure of this one

In the fridge: jalapeno slices – green, but spicy and not from leaves

Lovely lovely selection of spices here! And I love things made with

pumpkin or squash -

interesting how they work so well for sweet AND savoury. Thanks a

bunch!!!

Love, Pat

Big family, eh! That's a lot of 'goodness' in those bottles - and a nice

dash of spicy *heat*

too. Thanks for that :-)

RE: Trinidad homemade drink

Thanks for the link to the Maubi tree bark drink recipe.

The people at the Roti (Trinidadian) restaurant make their own and said

they use ANY kind of bark. Either they meant exactly what they said or

were trying to keep their recipe secret (which is silly because the

process and the other ingredients are not at all obvious).

I have had sorrel (dark red, sweet and fruity) and sea moss (creamy).

One Jamaican place near here puts the sea moss in all of their

smoothies.

I love living in the tropics (way down south in Florida).

Sure do! Quite a list there!!!! I DO have caraway (in addition to what I posted

before) and

poppyseed, but not the chipotle powder, ancho, dill seed, juniper, star anise,

mace . . .

I'd suggest buy them only when needed - as in, if you see a recipe that calls

for something

or other and you REALLY want to try it, then by all means go and buy whatever it

is you

need (in a small amount) - so they won't go stale or lose their flavour on the

bedpost or

whatever ;-)

Thanks for writing in! Hugs.
