I love both of these sauces over stirfried veggies. Feel free to try them on

anything you like.

General Tso Sauce

2 1/2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 teaspoon minces garlic (or more to taste)

1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger (or more to taste)

2 tablespoons vegitarian hoisin sauce

3 teaspoons rice wine vinegar

3 teaspoons sugar

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (or more to taste)

Combine ingredients in a cup and pour over stirfried veggies 1 minute before

serving. Heat in wok with veggies for 1 minute and enjoy.

******************************************

General Changs Spicy Sweet Sauce

2 Teaspoons Vegetable Oil

4 Cloves Garlic, Chopped (we love garlic so we use about 3 times this amount)

3 Tablespoons Chopped Green Onions

1 Cup Pineapple Juice

2 Tablespoons Asian Chili Sauce (or more to taste)

2 Tablespoons White Vinegar or rice wine vinegar

4 Teaspoons Granulated Sugar

1 Teaspoon Soy Sauce

2 Tablespoons Water

1/2 Teaspoon Cornstarch

1. Make the sauce by heating 2 teaspoons vegetable oil in medium saucepan.

Sauté the garlic and onion in the oil for just a few seconds, not allowing the

ingredients to burn, then quickly add the pineapple juice, followed by chili

sauce, vinegar, sugar, and soy sauce.

2. Dissolve cornstarch in 2 tablespoons water and add it to the other

ingredients in the saucepan. Bring mixture to a boil and continue to simmer

on medium/high heat for 3 to 5 minutes or until thick and syrupy.

3. Pour over stirfried veggies and enjoy.

Sorry that these aren't in Mastercook format, my Mastercook decided not to

load this morning for some reason. My 7 year old daughter loves the Chang's

sauce over broccoli.

Angelvista,

Welcome to the group. There are many nice people in this group. Would you

please tell me what your homemade Gerneral Tso sauce and brown rice is? I never

heard of it. It sounds like it is East Asian. Do you have a recipe for it you

would share with us?

Thanks

GB

For a very irreverant discussion of General Tso Ch*cken, go to the following:

http://www.echonyc.com/~erich/tso.htm

It's sort of a sweet-sour sauce with whole chiles in it - very much in keeping

with the

Szechuan and Hunan style popular now, although undoubtedly unknown by either

cuisine.

I think it's great when new ways of approaching the cuisines of different

cultures are tried

- although some might not agree. (Although it has to be said, for eg., that it

took the

Indian diaspara in the UK to revitalize Indian cuisine - or so I've read!)

Looking forward to that sauce recipe!!!!! - and welcome to the group!

Best love, Pat (group 'owner' with moderators Maida and Elite)
