Guest guest
Let me see LOL You made this recipe but don't like it. You dislike tempeh, found the spices much too hot (at least on the blend you purchased ready made) as did your husband, say that you disliked the raita that goes with it. OK. Thanks for the warning - But I think I should point out that we don't file recipes that don't work, that aren't 'tried and true' - this one was tried and disliked by you (not usable as is, not 'true'), by your own statement, in three different ways, right?? ;-) That's a pity - we all have failures in the kitchen, either a failure of cooking method or ingredients or finding we hate the wretched recipe anyway! And it's soooo annoying, because all cooking costs us in time, money and, for many, self esteem and family approval. Total sympathy!!! Those are the recipes we mark well NOT to try again and then try quietly to forget. (Bury 'em, is what I say!) About using potato in place of tempeh - that would be of course a very different dish. And of course that would mean that you wouldn't marinate the potatoes for 8 hours in the fridge, wouldn't it? I suspect you'd find the whole thing disappointing. Why not move on, Thanks for writing in with the warning - I haven't bought the April VT yet (got a bit behind because of the flu and all) but I hope publishing a recipe from a current magazine issue won't put people off buying this excellent publication. Best love, Pat > discovered we really do not like tempeh so I am making this again this > week but using potato instead of tempeh. Guest guest
Yep, made it and I didn't like but that is NOT to say others won't like in the orginal form so that is why I posted it. I always like to try a recipe as is and adjust from there. And the April edition is packed full of great recipes other than this one that I did try and did love so I hope my one posting doesn't stop anyone from buying it. This was the only recipe I made that fit in the theme of this group - spicy. :-) Good luck to all in their cooking adventures.

Understood ;-) >I always like to > try a recipe as is and adjust from there. Me too - otherwise you haven't a clue what the original chef had in mind. I don't use dairy anymore, but I'm wondering what could be done with this recipe if I used silken tofu (thinned out) in lieu of the buttermilk/yoghurt components - and, ooooops! - subbed firm tofu for the tempeh (my tempeh 'pusher' has gone outta business). If I try it and like it, then I'll post it. Best love, Pat
