Guest guest
New member. I'm really not sure what appliance I use most often. I do make ample use of my electric wok. I've also been depending lately on my bread maker to do final kneading for me. The dough becomes elastic in half the time it would take me. Now if I could just make the reset button work. I also frequently use my coffee grinder for grinding nuts and spices. In the past year I've given away my electric mixer, slow cooker, electric griddle, electric roaster, electric waffle iron, electric sandwich maker, electric can opener, electric food grinder, and electric iced tea maker. I seldom use my blender. At least this past year I've seldom used it. I most often use it for making butter from heavy whipping cream, and for making fresh coconut milk. I haven't made either in the past year. I had to think all that through. I use so many things automatically. So I guess I use my wok, coffee grinder, electric heating pad (for salt rising bread and croissant dough), bread maker, oven, and stove most often and probably about equally. Blender and coffee maker are used infrequently this year. Laurel

Yeah, that's true...although, it's mostly when I go out to eat that I lapse. I don't bother buying meat for the house, since it's pretty expensive and, well, I live alone. Usually by the time I get to it, it's gone bad, you know? One cool thing is that my work has free salad at lunchtime, so I've been partaking of that a lot more lately. Sorry to hear your acid reflux is returning - is that made worse by a > non-veggie diet? I > suppose it might be. How very unpleasant for you. Well, I'm sure you'll > sort out what's best > for you. Meanwhile, don't forget that there are lots of nonvegetarians on > this list - and > many of them are among our best contributors! So now you're out of > lurkdom, you just > stay out of lurkdom, okay? LOL Fatty foods contribute to it really, and most meat based things are really fatty in the bad way for acid reflux. I also haven't been eating all that well lately (for other reasons) and have ended up making a lot of pasta with jarred tomato sauce. And with acid reflux, tomatoes are on the no-no list (along with other high acid fruits and veggies, soda, and potatoes). So, I have find the list of good foods and get back in the habit. This also, unfortunately, cuts out spicy foods for awhile, but I can gradually add them back in after it clears up again. Oh, and speaking of chiles, I don't remember if my spicy stewed black beans are in the recipie files, but for that I usually use one seeded and one unseeded jalepeno. I think they give the best flavor for the dish, although, I'm now kind of curious how it would taste if you used different chiles. Hmmm...makes me want to head out to Berkeley Bowl tomorrow! Anyway, I'll try not to lurk much, but things are rather hectic lately, and like I said, I haven't been cooking very creatively lately. But if I come up with something new, I'll let you know! Guest guest
Hi, I just wanted to suggest that might be of help,as this has helped me a lot in my acid reflux and so with other patients that has come to us in alternative medicine.First stick on non fatty vegie food, avoid much use of pepper, drink cabbage or potato juice and in the morning on empty stomach drink lemon juice with lukewarm water well my acid reflux is totally gone now after 18 yrs of taking antacids and other pain relievers. This is just a suggestion,as i have proven it effective, but what am sure is being on vegetarian food helps me a lot, real healthy.
