Guest guest
Did you know: Cumin (or Cummin) is related to parsley? So they tell us. And it is used in many cuisines - in Asia, North America (most famously Mexican) and in Europe (eg. Spanish, Portuguese), and it even flavours some cheeses. Mexican Chili Powder contains cumin, as does Curry Powder (both, the kind you buy ready-mixed at your local supermarket). It isn't really `hot' in itself, but is often mixed in recipes with other hotter spices, eg. *chiles*! Although we tend to associate it with savoury dishes rather than sweet, there are great cakes flavoured with cumin. Have a look at this site for some info on Cumin: http://www.theepicentre.com/Spices/cumin.html and this one too: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cumin Any favourite foods or recipes containing cumin? Tell us! Love, Pat
Guest guest
Interesting links. I use cumin when I am making vegetarian chili. I also like to stir a dash of cumin into the deviled egg mixture or egg salad.
