Thanks to member feedback, there have been some changes here which loosen things

up

quite a bit . Older members as well as more recent members should feel

comfortable with

them, since the usual safeguards against unacceptable posts have been maintained

while

allowing members who act in good faith to post within the (unfortunately

necessary these

days) guidelines.

When you come right down to it, all the rules you can think of or really need

boil down to a

few basics. Here are the basics for Vegetarian Spice as of now.

So this is what will now go out to members upon joining.

VEGETARIAN SPICE: THE ONLY RULES WE NEED

(This notice replaces all previous Rules notices)

Members are kindly requested . . .

* to show respect for vegetarian and vegan principles, practices and lifestyles;

* to refrain from promoting any link, product or service in which they or their

family derive

financial benefit, directly or indirectly, or which may offend vegetarians and

vegans;

* to post only `tried-and-true' (kitchen-tested by the member) vegetarian or

vegan

recipes, carefully omitting all references to meat, poultry, fish, gelatin, etc.

(Those recipes

in keeping with the `hot and spicy' theme of the list will also be placed in the

Files by a

moderator, but all vegetarian recipes are welcome.);

* to avoid such controversial topics as politics and religion;

* to follow the rules of netiquette, including the usual dire warnings against

spam, flames,

x-rated material, etc.

These are all pretty well standard on most lists and should therefore pose no

problems.

Members should, however, rest comfortably in the assurance that, should offences

occur,

the person or persons responsible will be put under moderation or removed from

the list

with or without warning.

Many thanks.
