Guest guest
Searching around just after my last post, I found the following link from the Vegan Society which should help anyone interested in these off-beat uses of spices and herbs LOL http://www.vegansociety.com/html/people/lifestyle/home_and_garden/pest_control.p\ hp Good luck, everyone - and thanks for the input. I know nothing about these sonar devices mentioned btw. The humane mousetrap I already had heard of - used a human one, a baited hand-held jar to lure them, when we lived in Oz - those little demons would walk right up to you and practically take the bait out of your hand! ;-) No challenge at all. Trick was to take them far enough away from the house without dumping them in someone else's domain! Best love, Pat
Guest guest
[NOTE FROM MODERATOR: This query should be answered in a *vegetarian/vegan* way; the response, in order not to offend, should be cruelty free. Many thanks :-) - Pat] -Hi, What can I do about cotton-tail rabbits and ground squirrells? There are dozens of each here, and the hillsides are all brown, leaving nothing for them to eat except all my garden, plants and each other.....that's right.....the ground squirrells have been seen several times carting off rabbits and birds and eating them. They are eating the chicken eggs, and getting into the house. They are very intellegent, and tenacious, and can chew through window areas and doors in a couple hours. I have tried trapping them, and they just come back. And the rabbits are getting diseased from lack of vegetation and are loaded with ticks. Any advice? -- In , " Pat " <drpatsant wrote: > > > Searching around just after my last post, I found the following link from the Vegan Society > which should help anyone interested in these off-beat uses of spices and herbs LOL > > http://www.vegansociety.com/html/people/lifestyle/home_and_garden/pes t_control.php > > Good luck, everyone - and thanks for the input. Guest guest
for rabbits: 1 - plant Centaurea cineraria around your garden - the most effective variety is C. cineraria 'Diamond' its common name is 'dusty miller' but there are dozens of flowers that go by that name so ask for this one by its scientific name. it has velvety white leaves and purple flowers. 2 - Hit the trail mix - repels most critters - kept my nieghbors dog away when I used it. 4 tbsp dry mustard 3 tblsp cayenne pepper 2 tblsp chili powder 2 tblsp cloves 1 tblsp tabasco sauce 2 quarts warm water mix together and sprinkle around the perimeter of your garden 3 - Squirrel beater tonic - for fruit and nut trees spray plants with 2 tbsp cayenne pepper 2 tbsp tabasco sauce 2tbsp chili powder 1 tbsp Murphy's Oil Soap 1 quart warm water These are all from Jerry Baker's Giant Book of Garden Solutions, 1,954 natural remedies to handle your toughest garden problems. One of my favorite books! peace, Angela great grandma recycled, she called it making do. who I am is fine, it's just this body that's disabled! middle age = that time of life when we realize yesterday's sex, drugs and rock and roll are todays memories, prescriptions and golden oldies!
