Guest guest
[MODERATOR'S COMMENT: Hello there - I'm not given to rejecting messages just because they don't agree with my way of thinking - but there are a couple of problems here: 1. This message is one of those 'scare tactics' messages - just look at the wording! 2. The first link you have given does not lead to the article directly or even to a synopsis of the article, but requires that one divulge one's email address and wait to receive something. Not good. I couldn't access your second link. 3. This is not a health list. (OK, a couple means 2, I know, but I couldn't resist.) We do NOT want to start a debate on this here, but if we must, we must! I could go on, but, what the hey, I will let this onto the list anyway. You can all make up your own minds. Myself, I think that moderation is called for, alas, in most things (including the consumption of raw food, if you ask me, but since this is a *cooking* list, it's obvious I'd think that.) For more lovely soy recipes, check our Files.] ---- " Tofu Shrinks Brain! " Not a science fiction scenario, this sobering soybean revelation is for real. But how did the " poster bean " of the '90s go wrong? Apparently, in many ways -- none of which bode well for the brain. http://www.mercola.com/2000/sep/17/soy_brain.htm There are many health dangers associated with consumption of soy products for more info go to: www.chidiet.com/problemswithsoy.htm) Jerry...aka...eatinraw
Guest guest
I want to know more about this brain shrinking thing.....I love soymilk, and soy products, as I cannot drink milk. I tried the link, but I do not want to have to join something to learn what that is about. Guest guest
Moderator: Thank you for your response to this kind of thing. When you look at many of these anti soy diatribes, they often have support [unofficially, of course] from the meat industry. Some so go far to try to imply that vegetarianism is UnAmerican, therefore it goes without saying, if you eat dead criiters you are patriotic. I have often thought that this comes from certain political factions in our culture in the US. I know that there are many my community that are truly offended because I do not eat dead critters. Like most lacto ovo vegetarians, I eat soy in moderation just as I eat milk products and eat eggs in moderation. Thanks again for your responsible response. Guest guest
My apologies to all. It was not my intention to start a debate or be contreversial. I was just trying to share some interesting scientific facts. I was also not aware that you had to recieve the newsletter to access the information, as I am already a r. I will try to insure that my future postings are more acceptable to the members of this group. So if you will forgive I shall do my best to never let it happen again.
