And since I became vegan, I always always cook now and more precisely meals from " scratch " . Wow, amazing. Don't you find you can " taste " food a lot more now and really love food more? > > I would also not ever go back to canned tomato sauces. Always make my own sauce along with other types of meals from " scratch " . I even bake now, lol. I also don't waste food like I used to. Anyways, most of you I'm sure have experienced these nice changes along with other " gifts " since the diet change. Well hon I also cook from scratch - and although I understand that many don't have the time, it's really not as slow (as 'slow cooking' sounds LOL) and/or difficult as it seems. I've also been making all our own bread - even flat bread, which I used to think was somehow difficult (go figure), muffins, quickbreads, etc. etc. - from scratch, without a bread machine, for years now and my husband turns his nose up at bread in even the best restaurants now (as I do). It's easy, and bread freezes well. As for sauces, etc., hey you can make em and freeze em, right? Soooo easy to take out a container of slow-simmered tomato sauce when you need it. Same with 'gravies', soups, etc. (although freezing of course messes up some ingredients). Beans I throw into the slow cooker and freeze in conveniently sized packs (usually two cups) for when I need them. Does anyone else cook from scratch?????? Even partly? I know some do, but I'd like to hear from you and so would others of us who find this an easy way to be sure we have the right and not the wrong ingredients in everything we eat at home. Come on, unknowlingly (perhaps) Firebird has started a thread here! Let's hear from anyone else who is around this August! Best love, Pat
