Guest guest
I just want to give an update/info message on recipes on Vegetarian Spice: This is a *VEGETARIAN* group, but some members are VEGAN. Therefore some recipes will be vegan (and often marked as such). Sometimes vegetarian recipes (with eggs, dairy or honey in them) will be edited when they go into the files to show the original recipe, as you posted it, with vegan alternatives for the benefit of vegan members IF that can be done easily This is in no way a criticism of the correctly vegetarian recipe submitted but is intended to be helpful to everyone. If someone who is a confirmed ovo-lacto vegetarian sees a vegan recipe, they can usually easily change it by replacing soy or almond milk (or whatever) with dairy milk, vegan margerine with butter, soy cheese with dairy cheese, and egg substitutes with, er, eggs LOL Easy. If there are other ingredients that you don't know how to change - tofu, for example - just ASK! As for the theme of the group, it is SPICE - but all recipes are fine, although off-topic recipes are filed in a different place so that they may be easily found and identified by those seeking a less spicy option. However, ALL vegetarian recipes are and always have been welcome here - including those with eggs, dairy and honey. (A pro-forma statement: Meat from any animal/living creature - whether it walks, swims, flies, crawls, hops or sits on or under a rock - does not of course belong on any vegetarian group whatsoever, including Vegetarian Spice and we ask that you kindly edit from your recipes and avoid discussion of it.) I don't know how much confusion there has been over this business - but I have had off- list inquiries. Others have been saying that this group has 'gone vegan'. It is true that I, the group Host/Owner, have, over the two and a half years since I began this group, become vegan myself, but the group remains VEGETARIAN My recent recipes are vegan because we have a rule here that all recipes must be tried and true - and I can't very well post a recipe with ingredients I haven't used, you see. That's all. No biggie. No problem. SOOOOOOO, hope that clears up a few things If there is anything else you'd like to know, please ask. As always, if it is something that you think is related to the theme of the group you should just post. If it is a technical matter or a matter of the Rules, etc., by all means feel free to contact Maida and myself by writing to us at the following address: -owner and we will get back to you asap! Okay? Now how about some recipes????????? Best love, Pat - Vegetarian Spice Owner/Host
