Guest guest
Looking at the results of the second of the two polls, I see something a little disturbing. The poll asked: " What is your primary reason for being a member of this group? " and the results are as follows (my comments in square brackets): - Because it's there., 0 votes, 0.00% [heh heh heh no one chose that Everest eh?] - To make vegetarian/vegan friends., 0 votes, 0.00% [Hey we can be friendly ] - To find vegetarian/vegan recipes., 25 votes, 80.65% [okay, that's 25 out of 31 votes] - To share vegetarian/vegan recipes with others., 5 votes, 16.13% [less than 1/6 of votes] - To talk about vegetarian/vegan matters., 1 votes, 3.23% [1 lone soul talking to self ] Now look at the two answers that deal with recipes, if you will. Admittedly the poll said PRIMARY reason for being here - and a secondary reason might well be to share recipes with others (by sharing I mean to have give and take - you show me yours and I'll show you mine, etc. ) BUT I feel I have to comment that IF only 1/6th of active members are happy to offer recipes, we're in trouble my friends! Now I'm not saying that we're going to crash the ship, but nor do I see us endlessly circling in space all hoping to find recipes with no or little chance of adding more recipes to the cache of excellent recipes already in the Files. You see? Suggestions, please!!!! Best love, Pat - Vegetarian Spice group owner and general dogsbody.
Guest guest
Are we the control group or the experimental group? Chill out... and see who we are or who we become. Guest guest
There may be other inferences to be teased out of the data. There are 1009 members of the group, yet only 31 responded to the poll. I'm not a polling expert, but that seems very low. People join these groups for many reasons. I joined to find recipes. I know that I will never (probably never!) contribute a recipe (not a cook, very busy with many other things, etc). But I get something positive out of belonging to the group and I believe that folks who do contribute recipes are making a significant contribution to the health and well-being of the other 1084 of us! If this is viewed as a problem, the perhaps the answer is to require a recipe submission every year (or some appropriate time period) or you're booted! But this is a bit of a tongue in cheek suggestion; I'm sure that's not what the groups are about. Do we know how many folks have contributed at least one recipe in the past year? That would be an interesting metric. v/s Jim drpatsant wrote: >Looking at the results of the second of the two polls, I see something a little disturbing. >The poll asked: " What is your primary reason for being a member of this group? Guest guest
Very cute, islandjim Ya think we're going to change into something else? Alien critters maybe??? As long as we're vegetarian critters, I'm cool about that if you are! LOL But I take it YOUR suggestion is to do nothing? OK. One vote for nothing. Guest guest
Thanks for the response so quickly, Jim. jplynch wrote: > There may be other inferences to be teased out of the data. But that's kinda typical for polls on this group Who wants to answer polls when there's food to be eaten and fun to be had! > perhaps the answer is to require a > recipe submission every year (or some appropriate time period) or you're > booted! But this is a bit of a tongue in cheek suggestion. . . LOL That WOULD be popular, eh? Nah, my 'Houston We Have A Problem' was tongue in cheek too. I'm cool. I could just keep inflicting my own cullinary experiments on you all until you get so tired of them that you send in your own out of sheer desperation! There's a great suggestion. Meanwhile we have a major holiday for those of you in the USA, right??? Have a happy! Guest guest
Hi Pat, I can understand your concern. I must admit that I did think long and hard about which answer to pick as I would have preferred to have chosen BOTH to receive and to share recipes. Just to start the ball rolling in the right direction again I'll submit a couple of my favourite recipes tonight. Hugs from Marie in Haarlem, Netherlands
