Guest guest
Pat, how timely...I have 3 raw food books...I just wrote to one of the others the other day about my husband's diabetic condition...He is writing a new cookbook that will be out in December. I'm hoping it will be a lot easier than so many steps to create something that are in the other uncookbooks. I've wanted to make many of the dishes but it's usually a recipe where you have to go here to get that part of the recipe and go there to get this part of the recipe.... So, I've only made 1 raw food dish. It is beets with orange and you blend olive oil and maple syrupr together, marinate it. I think that's all there is to this simple dish and it's so refreshing and delicious. I told my husband just last night, though I love to cook and have enjoyed gourmet cooking, with his condition I'm having to learn a whole new routine..even though I have a new kitchen and the gourmet touch I really don't want to be in the kitchen making so many things that have to all together in 1 recipe Pat, what successes or joys have you had with your raw food uncookbooks? So his book should be good for diabetics (and pre-diabetics) AND rawfoodists? That sounds great! > I'm hoping it will be a lot easier than so many steps to create > something that are in the other uncookbooks. Now this is where I confess that I don't have any rawfood recipe books. I have looked at several in bookstores (well, a few - they don't exactly abound) and they all DO look complicated. Or maybe it's the assumption that one has both juicer and dehydrator that makes it seem so to me, who has neither. I understand both are essential. > I've wanted to make many of the dishes but it's usually a recipe > where you have to go here to get that part of the recipe and go > there to get this part of the recipe.... I know, I have regular cookbooks that do that, and it is sooo annoying LOL > So, I've only made 1 raw food dish. That sounds nice - and would look absolutely beautiful. Can you check on proportions of ingredients so that it can be written up as a recipe and posted to our Files section? I'm just starting an interest in raw foods - me, the one who used to eat salad under protest! Right now it's confined to just adding more and more crunch to 'salads' and developing different dressings that are low-fat or fat-free (for reasons which needn't worry anyone else). Oh, and a couple of soups, now that I think of it, are raw. But all that's very amateur and unknowledgable. I'm going to learn - which is why I asked the question. Thanks so much for responding. Btw, are you or your husband on a diabetic group? There's a rather nice group called DiabeticVegChat which is run by Londa and Debbie (Dunno if they're both still here), and I know there are rawfoodists there too! (I'm not currently a member, although I was heavily involved in starting it last year.) Try it, won't you! Love, Pat
