I'm pleased to tell you all that Marie (marierieuwers)

and Piers (piersalgarve) are new members of this

management team. They'll be helping to see that things

run smoothly for us all.

I have known both of these lovely people in cyberspace

for some years now, as have many of you. And some of

you will recognize Piers from the Vegetarian Slimming

group. I'll leave both new moderators to introduce

themselves, if they wish to do so - or to maintain a

mysterious silence if they so choose ;)

Me, I'm now off to watch a doco on Baby Boomers -

enjoy the rest of your evening, everyone!

Best,

Hi Pat and all,

Well I wouldn't want to maintain a mysterious silence :-) I'm Piers,

age 66, born in UK, lived 36 years in the Netherlands, and now since

almost 3 weeks ago taking the first faltering steps towards building a

new life in Portugal - not the most vegetarian friendly country is my

first impression, but the markets are inspiring and the supermarkets

well-filled, so it's up to us to make something of it!

I'll let you know if I discover local delicacies that qualify for

inclusion on this list. My introduction to spicy food came as a

student in London where eating the hottest vindaloo was a rite of

passage. Since then after (or actually before) marriage I was

introduced to the Indonesian cuisine which as well as being spicy

gives a lot of opportunity for vegetarian eating - gado gado for

instance, (with adaptations) nasi goreng or bami goreng, and a variety

of stir-fry vegetable dishes which are often " spoiled " by the addition

of non-vegetarian products!

As far as is concerned I've been moderating lists for almost 10

years and have got to know some of the wiles of their system. At the

moment I'll leave proactive moderation to the long-established

moderators but hope to give a rapid response to requests for

acceptance of new members or moderation of messages, or any other

problems that may arise " on my watch " .

Good eating all, and enjoy the list! Piers
