Turmeric, oregano, other questions - thanks all!

Thank you everybody, for your good information! I'm glad it wasn't too " off

topic. " I won't buy the capsules solely for cooking purposes, I promise ;o)

I'm trying to get a dual-purpose product ... as in using capsules for cooking in

addition to swallowing as therapy, or taking fresh spices for medicinal benefit

as well as cooking. I'm new to cooking really, especially veg cooking, and I

also have health issues that I believe these herbs would help. I can't wait to

try them, even more after your helpful comments.

I would have thought any question about cooking with spices was

appropriate in a vegetarian spice list. The Oriental cookery I know

often involves turmeric, it's one of the main ingredients of curries

and is also used for making yellow rice yellow (unless you can afford

saffron in the quantities required), we also use it a lot in

stir-fries. And does it taste goed? wow! Lately I sought medical

advice (via the Web) for a condition and learnt of the health-giving

effects of turmeric especially in combination with cruciferous

vegetables - which we'd been doing all the time without knowing how

goed it was! (can give references if required but that _would_ be off

topic!)

 

Oregano is also delicious, usually in Mediterranean cookery. Give me

the raw ingredients any time, never mind the capsules!
