Guest guest
Fruit salad is one of my favourite things - whether a simple one (I love to combine mangoes with strawberries) or a more elaborate mix, it has to be top of the list of wonderful desserts - especially when and where produce is bountiful. Apart from raw, how do you all like to prepare your fruit? Which are your faves? And which fruits do you have on a regular basis and which do you have for a special occasion? Ideas please!!!! Guest guest
Hi everyone I just wanted to share with you my favorite fruit snack. I love to eat dried sweetened cranberries and raw almonds together. So that is the fruit that I enjoy everyday. My husband is Vietnamese and so on special occasions we love to eat asian fruits like Logans, Lychees, and Durian (aka Stinky Fruit). The fish are biting. Guest guest
I just got a tip from my mom about bananas that are getting too ripe for one's liking. She said to cut them into rounds and freeze them (out of the peel). I didn't think it would work, thought they'd be mushy or something, but they were really nice and refreshing! The idea is to eat them straight from the freezer, not letting them thaw. Sick sense of humor? Visit TV's Comedy with an Edge to see what's on, when. And you can also pop them into a blender to turn them into a kind of sorbet Another thing I save frozen bananas for is to use in baking - I avoid added oil in cooking, so I use mashed bananas, applesauce, whatever, instead. Frozen bananas are so quick to defrost (I freeze them in baggies, laid out flat to save space) and then mash/puree for baking purposes. Or to eat frozen - Yeah!!!! REally really good! Thanks for mentioning that tip - someone told me about it recently, and so I've only been freezing my ageing bananas this last few months, and I didn't even think to pass the tip on to the group! Good for you!! Love, Pat
