Guest guest
Earlier this summer my son and I decided to 'get back to basics' and it's the best thing we've ever done. A vegetarian diet has helped my son cope with his autism symptoms and we have more energy than I could have hoped for. We're excited about the recipes and can't wait to get cooking! Have a good one. Have a good one. Hi Kim, pleased to meet you. I have found a similar result with my Asperger's Syndrome - I have a much easier time coping with executive dysfunction, ability to change in a smooth and timely manner from one activity to another, and stress due to sensory overload, faceblindness, social blindness and similar daily stressors when I am eating vegetarian whole foods. Welcome to the group! There are a lot of good recipes in the archives and more to come from members. I'd love to hear about your favorite recipes! Guest guest
Hello Sparrow, Pleased to meet you too. We are trying a new recipe for apple stuffed buttercup squash tonight and I can hardly wait. I wasn't exposed to squash as a child and I'm eager to sink my teeth in! I'll let you know how it goes. Guest guest
I'm so pleased to have this news! We all talk about food here and we all know how good a vegetarian diet is for us, and when someone can cite something as specific as the benefits to you and your son it's really heartening! Yes yes yes, do try some of the recipes - with all that energy you have now you should be able to cook up a storm! More success stories! I'm so happy to hear this - and the 'whole foods' part of it is important too, although sometimes people forget about that part or find it difficult to follow. It's wonderful that you have been able to find such an improvement. Asperger's is no fun, I understand. For myself, I also find that whole foods taste better, are more satisfying and give me a huge amount of energy. Now energy is something I've never had before - and here I am at my age (well, not as old as the hills but still not a young kid) absolutely *full* of enthusiasm and having to work off my excess energy with walking, exercising, etc. Luxury crisis, eh? LOL And oh yes, I *think* veggie whole foods are better for my mood too - not going down in the dumps at all when I eat properly! Or maybe it's the wonderful recipes you people send in that make me feel so happy and energized. If so, MORE PLEASE! LOL I'll take all I can get! Thanks for writing in, hon. Guest guest
Hello Robin and welcome! How nice that your whole family has decided to become vegetarian - that's a wonderful decision and so important for the children, too, to have you as an example and this splendid start in their lives. So congratulations on that big decision to you, your husband and the kids - and enjoy our group! If we can help in any way, let us know. Best, Pat (Group owner) ---- Dr Patricia M.
