Guest guest
Welcome, Debbie! Good for you for giving up me*t!!! Sometimes we just have to take our lives into our own hands, don't we! You say you're lactose intolerant - and more people are lactose intolerant than even they know - which means you're an ovo-vegetarian? (One who doesn't use dairy but still eats eggs.) Good move to give up what doesn't suit you! (And the cows thank you too, along with your own bod ) Sorry to hear you're worried about your daughter. I was anaemic at that age too - I got over it with no ill effects, but you're right to be concerned that she has the right foods. Food high in iron? Lots of green vegetables, legumes (beans, peas, lentils - including tofu), whole grains, etc. But hey, lookie here - a VERY good site which talks about iron in the vegetarian diet and has some charts for comparison of iron in various foods. It should help! http://www.vrg.org/nutrition/iron.htm Thanks for introducing yourself. Be sure to post often - enjoy the group. I'ts lovely to have you here!
