Guest guest
Hello friends! I thought I would start this topic for people to talk about their " Kitchen Finds and Faves " . Sparrow's apple corer/slicer inspired me to do this. My new find, which I got at Home Depot today, is a Burpee Seed Sprouter. It will be great to have fresh sprouts whenever I want them. Depending on what kiind you sprout, you can have ready to eat sprouts in 2 to 7 days! Yay! The kit includes 3 kinds of seeds: Broccoli Sprout Seeds, Mung Bean Sprout Seeds and a Zesty Mix Sprout Seed. My kitchen faves are my food processor, my blender, Saladacco and my two juicers. I use them often! I am looking forward to hearing about other's " Finds and Faves " ! Guest guest
This is my fav tool right now, the Vidalia Chopper! It makes chopping veggies so easy and FAST. Super sharp blades and very easy to clean and put away. http://www.amazon.com/NPI-VOWR-2-Vidalia-Chop-Wizard/dp/B000I6JZWA , " catherineleslie1 " <catherineleslie1 wrote: > > Hello friends! > > I thought I would start this topic for people to talk about > their " Kitchen Finds and Faves " . My son and DIL have made it a gift tradition to comb the kitchen stores for new or popular kitchen accessories for me. One of my all-time favorites was subsequently named " Accessory of the Year " after I received it. It's a battery-operated gadjet that attaches to the top of a saucepan, with blades that stir the pan's contents. It will do continuous or intermittent stirring. I don't use it very often, but when I need to make a gravy or pudding, or a particular ice cream base, I no longer am chained to the stove! " It was a sort of a windmill that used the heat rising off a cauldron to turn a stirring spoon. Sparrow
Guest guest
Great topic, Cath OK, I love my kitchen scale - digital (to replace a non-digital one which not working too well any more) - which I got last fall. It has all kinds of little buttons to let you change from metric to imperial and it also (if you punch in the appropriate code) lets you calculate calories, fibre, blah blah blah. I prefer weight to cup measurement of things, because a cup of sliced something-or-other may have more or less of that 'something' in it depending on the size of the slices, you know? So will vary from cook to cook. Weight is weight. And the other week my stick blender gave up the ghost - and it was one of those which had a mini-processor attachment which I used a lot. But I thought I didn't need it really and tried to do without. Giving up on that, I bought another, different brand, and am absolutely in love with it all over again It sits out all the time now - such a time and muscle saver! Otherwise? For a small non-electrical gadget, I like my little lemon/citrus zester. Citrus zest is soooooo good for us, I learn, and, the reason I started using it, adds wonderful flavour to so many things, including soups and stews and sauces. (If I'm going to cut up an orange for a salad, I zest it first - and freeze the zest until needed.) Guest guest
Hi everyone, My all time favourite kitchen gadget is my microplane grater. I use it for so many things but the most use it gets is for grating garlic and ginger. I don't even bother peeling either garlic or ginger first. The papery skin of the garlic stays on top of the grater and can just be brushed away. The ginger is grated so finely that you don't even notice the odd bit of skin in there and it definitely beats the fiddly job of peeling ginger. Pat, your new scale sounds wonderful - I'm jealous!
