Guest guest
I made this vegan white sauce tonight to put over vegetables. It would also be good over mashed potatoes, nut/grain/bean loaves, pasta, or faux meats. I found it quite tasty, but if anyone has any ideas for improvements, I'm all ears! Sparrow Vegan White Sauce Ingredients: 2 ounces (4 tablespoons) vegan margarine (such as Earth's Balance) 1.5 ounces unbleached white flour 425 ml (about 14 1/3 ounces) soy milk 16 grams (2 heaping tablespoons) nutritional yeast 1/2 teaspoon mustard powder 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder about 16 twists of a black pepper mill or about 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper Directions: Combine margarine and soy milk in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Whisk ocasionally until margarine is melted. Add flour and whisk together well. Add mustard powder and garlic powder and continue whisking until mixture comes to a bubble. Allow to bubble, continuously whisking, until the sauce thickens. Turn off the heat and whisk in the nutritional yeast. Whisk in black pepper. Serves 6. 92 calories per serving.
