Guest guest
Thanks for the welcome. I am a professionally trained chef and worked in the field for 20 years. I got a job offered to me when my husband moved with his company so I took it. Best thing I did-less stress, weekends, off paid holidays etc. I have been there almost 14 years! I still cook though and read a lot and learn, I love the food network, I watch vegetarian shows on VERIA which is a Dish network channel very good there. Ann Gentry has a show on. I am starting to dabble in things that are not normal to me like kombu, miso, that sort of thing. I never really knew what to do with them so I got by not using them but my interest has come alive so I have some. Oh and using agar for some things. I grow as many herbs, flowers, tomatoes, and other vegetables as I can. Some strawberries too if they don't get eaten by critters LOL. I live in the high desert and am surrounded by wildlife so most of my stuff stays in two small greenhouses or the animals beat me to it. I am planning on growing more greens this year chards, spinaches, lettuces, arugula that sort of thing and of course my tomatoes. I am starting to lean toward vegan and so far so good. I did not buy any eggs, or milk, or cheese this shopping trip. I have some here but not much and it can easily be dealt with. I did get yogurt but will be purchasing the soy yogurt in the future. Well that is a long enough letter to read for now. Thanks again for the welcome and hope I can find some good tried and true recipes.
