Guest guest
I noticed that selenium has sources I would not want to find, but also picked up on the Brazil nut part and was about to post this, I found out last year when I was trying to up my selenium intake and discovered Brazil nut of all things to be the best source of selenium. So much so that warnings were issued. When I got a bunch of them last year I was shocked to find out that Brazil nut have more than anything else. Imagine that. It depends on the selenium in the soil but here is one article. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brazil_nut ------------------- This National Institutes of Health article mentions No'No's Basically it says, because I left the bad parts out. Brazil nuts, dried, unblanched, 1 ounce 544 micrograms 780% Daily Value Selenium content of foods can vary. For example, Brazil nuts may contain as much as 544 micrograms of selenium per ounce. They also may contain far less selenium. It is wise to eat Brazil nuts only occasionally because of their unusually high intake of selenium. Here is the link if you dare read it. http://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/selenium.asp -------------------- I left the good part of Pat's reply message.
