Guest guest
Hi, my name is Andrea. I have been a vegetarian for about 10 years. I don't eat meat, or processed sugar. But, I do still eat meat byproducts, pasta, and bread. I need to cut out the dairy, and reduce the starches. I am looking to focus more on raw foods to eat and live healthier. I would love input on diverse raw foods recipes and diversify my diet. (afarnie)
Guest guest
Welcome, Andrea! > I have been a vegetarian > for about 10 years. I > don't eat meat, or processed sugar. But, I do > still eat meat > byproducts, pasta, and bread. Okay, now I'm all confused LOL But it's still very early in the morning for me, so that's not surprising! Wonderful that you've been vegetarian for 10 years - a great achievement. But not sure what you mean by meat byproducts - if you mean things like gelatin, meat stock, lard, etc., then you're kinda semi-vegetarian, right? Fine with us - we have all kinds of eating habits on this group, and all we ask is that people don't talk about eating animals or dead animal products in their messages nor include those things in their recipes. Simple, eh? > I need to cut out > the dairy, and reduce > the starches. Well, the dairy is pretty easy to lose - I took time over it myself (sad to say) because of eating out and falling back on cheese when decisions got tough, but I quickly found a routine of eating without all that We have lots of vegan recipes here - but they're not always marked vegan. And if there are lacto recipes you can usually adapt them pretty easily too. Ask if you need help, okay? If you are reducing starches for some reason, then we also have lots of recipes for those kinds of dishes, although since this is by no means intended as a weight-loss group or even a health group (those groups are elsewhere and I could recommend a few that I like particularly). > I am looking to focus more on raw > foods to eat and live > healthier. I would love input on diverse raw > foods recipes and > diversify my diet. We do have a few raw recipes in our Files - and of course there are lots of salads, although I know that's not what you're looking for. I am taking more interest in raw food myself, so I shall be interested in following this line. Enjoy the group. And thanks for the intro - good to have you here! Guest guest
Well, when writing my introduction, I never expected it to be dissected and analyzed line for line. I consider meat byproducts to be dairies and eggs and such that is expelled from the living animal and does not require the death of the animal to acquire it. As for the rest of the analysis, I am sure that if any of the fore running presidential hopefuls ever become vegetarians, they would dread being audited by you. I hope your critique of your recipes is as thorough as that which you give those who are just dropping a line to say hello. And nice to meet you too. Guest guest
Hello again, I'm sorry that my interleaving my message with yours was taken amiss - it is an email style often used and does save time and confusion. I shall try to remember that you dislike that convention. About the 'bone of contention' as it were: I understand 'animal byproducts' to mean things boiled down from or otherwise extracted from what is left of the living creature after the slaughterhouse experience. Other definitions may be more inclusive, however. I was simply trying to understand what you were saying *sigh* We all have our linguistic idiosyncracies, I guess, and people here are always discovering mine in interesting ways I don't know what to make of your bewildering reference to me and American politics - I'm not American and I live in Canada. I won't comment on the rest of your message. This is a friendly group and we do try to keep it that way.
