Rather than 'animal byproducts' I should have quoted myself (and you) correctly - sorry. You said, and I responded to, 'MEAT byproducts' - which is a little different. That is definitely things extracted by one way or another from the dead animal, isn't it. An animal is not called 'meat' in most circles until it has been turned into that commodity. (Ah this explains why I like to interleave things - so I get the terms of the previous email right! Knew I wasn't doing it just for the fun of it!!!!) I have added this correction for the benefit of any newbies to the vegetarian or vegan lifestyle who are reading - it's confusing enough as it is, eh? As for eggs and dairy (also mentioned in recent emails), they are indeed animal products, but it's whole different discussion to go into the pros and cons of whether their use constitutes cruelty and or death, premature or otherwise. (Apologies to fellow vegans here - but this IS a vegetarian group and . . . . *shrug*) Thanks for your patience, everyone. Now I'm going to sit down with a good book. Anyone read _The World Without Us_? Fascinating stuff!!! Love, Pat
