Guest guest
Welcome to our group, Kaye You say: > I have > only been a vegetarian > for four months and my family is still > transitioning to vegetarianism We all have to start somewhere, right? Congratulations on making the change - and how nice that your family is making the change too. That makes it so much easier for everyone! And non-dairy too? Excellent! You're well on your way, should you decide to stop with eggs as well, to being on a completely plant-based diet, which is now known to be healthier for you as well as kinder to the animals Nice work!!! > I crave an > occasional hamburger I'm afraid. Well, that goes away after a while as long as you don't give in to it. It's not that slipping up with a hamburger is so bad in itself (although there are health, weight and kindness issues involved of course), but the cravings DON'T go away if you indulge them but DO go if you don't. It's hard, I know, but try getting some vegetarian burgers in - experiment to find the kind that you like (and check the ingredients list to see if they're truly veg - and whether or not they have dairy products in them, such as casein, since you're trying to avoid that). Then just deck them out like a 'real' hamburger with all the wonderfully flavourful trimmings and I'll bet you enjoy it every bit as much! Try it - you'll see! I feel absolutely _wicked_ when I have one - like about twice a year - and have to keep reminding myself they're not real LOL > I like simple > recipes, don't like to > cook, We have all kinds of recipes here, and you can always ask for more. We love ANY kind of bread as long as it has bananas *lol* in our house! Write in often. Lovely to meet you! Hugs to all your family. Guest guest
Thank you for your support Pat, I am in the right place! You are dead on about the cravings. I also quit eating eggs at the same time I gave up dairy, but eggs seem to be harder for my husband and son to give up. Any ideas for scrambled egg or omelette subsitutions would be so helpful. OH and I will get right on that Chocolate Banana Bread recipe!! With added herbs, of course I'm sure others will have other ideas. (I'm a bad one to respond because I never liked eggs even back when I ate everything-but-everthing.) Thanks too for the Banana Bread Recipe - it's in our Files! I'm sure others will enjoy too!!!!!
