Guest guest
Hi everyone. I just joined this group and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Shari, and I have lived in Kansas for the past 10 years or so. I grew up and went to college in Iowa. I now live with my husband, 2 daughters, age 6 and 3, 2 cats and 1 dog. I am a knitting fanatic, and also spin (yarn). I work at 911, so I have a crazy schedule most of the time. So sometimes I will check my e-mail daily, and other times I won't get to it for days at a time, but I always will eventually respond. I have been thinking about vegetarianism for almost as long as I can remember, but never really implemented it. I occasionally would have meatless meals, but growing up all my relatives were farmers, and we would get beef and pork from them cheap/free, so it was always on the menu. And then after I moved out it was just easier to do what I knew, and my husband is a huge meat eater. In the past few years I have been thinking more and more about it, because most meat just grosses me out. I started doing some research to start adding more veggies, etc to our diet, and found out how many recipes there are to have without meat that I would enjoy. I think my biggest obstacle has been just not having the knowledge on how to make other things. Thanks for letting me join, and I'm excited to learn as much as I can. Guest guest
Welcome to the group, Shari Well, if you are wanting to become vegetarian and the only thing that's stopping you is good recipes, you've certainly come to the right place! All (and I really mean ALL) our recipes have to have been tried in the kitchen of the member posting - if for ANY reason at all they are not, then it says so! - so you'll know they'll work for you You'll find recipes from around the world - so have a look at our Files section (access on the homepage). Many are hot and spicy (chilies or whatever to make them 'hot'), some not - there are usually folders in each group to gather them together. This is a lacto-ovo vegetarian group, which means dairy products and eggs - and even honey - are acceptable, but no dead animal flesh or dead animal products whatsoever. This includes birds, fish, so-called sea'food' etc. Ask any questions you like - and thanks so much for introducing yourself. Have fun now! Write in to tell us how you're doing, okay?
