My name is Carol and I live in Sydney, Australia in a beachside suburb

just a few beaches away from the famous Bondi beach. I'm not a full

vegetarian as I still eat prawns and occasionally can't resist fish

and chips but I'm very conscious of endangered fish and avoid them.

I'm a book artist and I work cataloguing rare books at the Australian

Museum, which is Australia's premier natural history museum. So I'm

very passionate about books, natural history and animals, both wild

and domestic. I'm working at developing a passion for vegetarian food.

I do research for my daughter's vegetarian website which is a real

family affair and a labour of love as she is totally self supporting.

I guess Suzy is responsible for me giving up meat - it's hard to not

be convinced by such genuine enthusiasm.

I've already seen some great recipes on your site and as I really love

chilli I will be keen to try some that look as though they have some

heat in them.

My personal blog is about books and paper arts generally but currently

is about the Iron Deficient Chef. A local radio station gave Suzy this

name when she does vegan segments on their breakfast show, and the

name has stuck. She is certainly not iron deficient and is proof of

the goodness of a sensible vegetarian diet. My blog is

I look forward to meeting you all. Carol

Welcome, Carol!

Another Australian :) That's always nice - I lived in Sydney for 25 years until

we retired. I miss the sun sometimes! We live in Ontario :)

Best of luck with all your projects - including the misnamed 'Iron Deficient

Chef' ;) I've had a peek and it looks like a great site! Good for you and your

daughter too!

Write in whenever you can, please, and also try to send a few vegetarian recipes

our way too! (Nope, no fish or so-called sea'food' either - such a temptation,

to a would-be vegetarian in Sydney!)

Love and hugs,

Pat (Group Owner)
