Guest guest
Dear Cheri, Welcome! I am a very new member too. I will pray for you and your husband. You go girl and enjoy all the things and hobbies that you enjoy with zest!!!!! Charleen from New Smyrna Beach, Florida - wyndraven1 Sunday, October 28, 2007 10:48 AM New Member Introduction Hi: My name is Cheri. My nick name is Wyndy. I live on a beautiful group of islands called Haida Gwaii (the Queen Charlottes)that are 90 miles off the northwest coast of British Columiba, Canada... for our American friends... that's just south and west of Ketchikan, Alaska. I'm female, turned 59 years old on October 8th, a mother and grandmother three times over. I've been employed by our tiny municipality for twenty years, now. I love my job! I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes in May of this year. At the present time my diabetes is diet and exercise controlled. I've been a vegetarian for almost 18 years. I'm always looking for new recipes and new ways to cook things... or to eat them raw, for that matter. The selection of foods here on these islands is somewhat limited and most things are very expensive. I have to watch the budget! I love life! I enjoy hiking, power walking and swimming for exercise. There aren't any gyms or anything like that here. One does what one can do with what one has to work with. My other hobbies are knitting and crocheting, photography, reading and writing poetry. I also love to grow plants indoors and am learning to grow a Bonsai Tree. My secret passions are auto racing of any kind, football and hockey watched on television... I would be a regular " couch potato " if I allowed myself to be... My life is very busy and very full as I care for my husband at home with the help of a homemaker. His is quite ill with Stage 4 Alzheimer's and metastatic liver cancer. Time is at a premium around our house most of the time! Thank you to Joanie for recommending this group and thank you to the moderators for accepting my request to join it. Take good care, all. Guest guest
I'm excited to be a part of the group! I've always been interested in eating healthy and nutrition and being earth friendly but was always afraid to become vegetarian. Made a decision to do it last year and I was lost and failed. This time I bought books...signed up for online groups...forums etc. I've been meat free for 2 weeks now and I already know I'm NOT going back. I'm not only having fun with all of the recipes, my food tastes SO much better! I have 2 pugs, a black male and a fawn female. I'm single and happy (hmm wondering how it's going to be to meet men being a veggie) and looking forward to summer! Anyway, I can't wait for the recipes, advice and endless information! Guest guest
Well congratulations - you've done it! And I'm so pleased to hear you are enjoying food better as a veggie. It's not a punishment, is it? LOL I love pugs - although I have never actually been official guardian to one. My dh and I have two tri-colour beagles and their cat (actually the cat, who thinks he's a beagle most of the time, thinks they're his dogs, but that's just the way of the critters). They are a joy, aren't they! If you are looking for help at all with this new veggie adventure of yours, please ask - we love to help! Can't answer to your social life, I'm afraid - but surely there must be nice veggie men out there somewhere hoping to find veggie partners Enjoy the group!!!! And write in often. What a doggie Oh yes, our beagles adore our veggie food. Fortunately dogs are omnivores (or as someone put it 'opportunists') so with careful planning they do just fine on a vegan diet Beagle lovers are a species apart, I think! *hugs* Thanks for writing in!
