Hi, This is my first summer camping as vegan and wondered if anyone had

any good suggestions for food to prepare over a wood fire? Also, has

anyone had any experience with powdered soy milk? Thanks!

I suggest making food packets.  Using 3 peices of Aluminum foil put whatever

veggies you want and then put in the coals of the fire.  Here is what we like to

put in ours:

This is one serving

2 large Cabbage leaves

1/4 cup TVP(your choice of flavored)optional--no need to presoften

1/2 large bakers potato (sliced)

1/2 cup corn

1/2 cup diced carrots

1/2 small onion diced

3 tbs ketchup

Johnny's seasoning to taste

Place on sheet of  aluminum shinyside down on the table.  Place 1 cabbage leaf

on aluminum.  Layer 1/2 of potato slices on cabbage, then put TVP, Ketchup and

then place Onions, carrots, and corn, At this point add the Johnny's.  Next

layer the rest of the potatos on top of previous items and then finally place

cabbage leaf on top of everything.  Next put the second sheet of Aluminum Shiny

side up this time and fold up all sides.  Last step place one peice of Foil to

cover entire packet and place in fire.  It will take about 25 minutes to cook

flipping over half way,  Cooking time depends on size of potato slices and

amount of hot coals.  When it starts smelling good it is usually pretty close to

done.

No need to use a plate just dig in.

I have some powdered soy milk - BTM brand (Better Than Milk) but just got it and

haven;t tried it yet. Anyone else use it?

Soak corn on the cob (still in the husks) in water for at least an hour,

wrap in foil (still in the husks) and roast over the campfire. Delicious.
