I'm Marie, 62, an expat Australian now living in the Netherlands.

 

Congratulations on making the decision to become a vegetarian.  I'm sorry

though that it was prompted by the death of your father. 

 

Will the rest of your family be joining you on your vegetarian adventure? 

There are several people in the group who live in 'mixed'

vegetarian/non-vegetarian households so if that is your situation feel free to

ask questions.  In fact, feel free to ask questions anyway!

 

There are some wonderful recipes in the files on the group site.  I'm sure you

will enjoy browsing through them.

 

Once again, a big welcome to the group.

Hello, I am new.. to the group and also to vegetarianism. I've concidered doing

this for quite some time but never made the change until now. I am very new...

coming up on 24 hrs now without eating meat. Threre were several factors in me

finally deciding to do this. Most importantly is my health. I am currently

overweight and borderline diabetic. I have no energy. I lost my dear father to

colon cancer in April. He was the type that never went to a dr.. never had the

suggested exams etc he should have had in order to prevent this from happening

to him. I promised him before he passed away that I would see to it that my

family and I don't go down the same path. Speaking of family, a little info on

myself: I am married to a truck driver and am a stay at home mom to 4 kids,

ranging in age from 5 to 14 yrs. We live in Illinois. I'm looking forward to

meeting you all and also, learning from you! Becki
