Guest guest
Hi. I'm new here. My name is Richard, and I am a recent convert to the vegetarian diet. It started several months ago with an effort to lose weight. I began by eating more fiber and vegetables and reducing overall animal fats. This alone allowed me to lose 20 pounds. I eventually discovered meat analogs, leaving me only to eat fish and chicken. Funny thing about that is I really don't like fish or chicken. The hardest thing to give up was bacon. I made the final jump a month back. I'm finding the effort to include variety and flavor in my meals has made cooking more of an adventure that I truly enjoy. Though, if I am ever at a loss, a vegetarian bowl at Chipotle always satisfies.
Guest guest
Hello Richard, Congratulations on the switch...I'm glad you are seeing some real benefits! Interesting you mention Bac*n. DH (not a veg) was telling me last night that he read it is the number one thing that causes people to fall off the bandwagon so to speak. I've never eaten it so no fear here. I won't let DH cook it at home...yucky smell and grease! We use " breakfast strips " which I have always called stipples. They are made by Morningstar. Not good for you (or vegan) but better than the alternative. Depending where you are they can be hard to find. Around here (Toronto) I can only buy them in one place. You'll find loads of awesome recipes and people here! ~Paula PPlease consider the environment before printing this email Richard Basile <richard Tuesday, July 15, 2008 12:21:35 AM A Side of Guacamole Hi. Guest guest
Welcome to the group Richard!! Good to have you. I cannot believe that you mentioned Chipotle. It is one of my favorite quick restaurants. I have not been there since going veg, but I plan to in the future to see how they do. I pass it up often as it is one block away from the house. -Gypsy A Side of Guacamole Posted by: " Richard Basile " richard rbjabber Mon Jul 14, 2008 11:36 pm (PDT) Hi. I'm new here. Guest guest
Welcome, Richard, and congrats on deciding to become veggie - you won't regret it, I promise Let us know if there's anything we can help you with. Meanwhile, enjoy our group - we're a friendly lot, even though right now, in the midst of summer, we're rather quiet. Maybe we can change all that?
