Guest guest
If you haven't already read this article in the McDougall Newsletter, you probably should. It gives lots of information about salt and has great things to say about the vegetarian diet! I highly recommend it as a good read - and I should add that the printer-friendly version is a great one to have for reference and to copy for doubtful and/or needy friends and family http://www.drmcdougall.com/misc/2008nl/aug/salt.htm Love and hugs, Pat
Guest guest
This was very interesting. Thank you for sending it along. The main reason I watch my sodium intake is that it can make me hold fluids like nothing else, but when I plan on going for a long bicycle ride, I make a point of eating something ahead of time that does have it. Guest guest
Oh lots of us watch or salt intake - or should. I certainly do. The point is how _much_ and why. Dr McDougall gives examples of how much salt he usually figures people on his diet (following his recipes, which are salt-free) would take in by sprinkling a little salt at the table. It's not much compared to the average salt intake through consuming junk food and, dare I say it, processed me*ts. I also think McDougall's comments on a plant-based diet re salt intake are excellent. Love and hugs, Pat >This was very interesting. Thank you for sending it along. Guest guest
Thanks for the link. It appears eating sensibly and attending to the physical cravings of our bodies is the correct way. Now that cheeseless pizza with vegan dough and green peppers..... ---
