Guest guest
Did you get your puppy from a rescue group? 'Do what thou wilt, but harm none'. Each individual is responsible for discovering his or her own true nature and developing it fully, in harmony with the outer world. Whe is doing pretty good, she is still whinning for her family. I have a bad problem with my jaw, so eating raw veggies is out, except I can eat tomatoes and cucumbers they are somewhat soft. I need to make more brown rice, and beans for my salad. I try to eat nuts I can eat walnuts as they are not as hard. But pumpkin seeds are just to hard for my jaw. I think quiche will work with broccoli. Well I have to go as am trying to can eldeberries, and apples. I have a 5 gallon bucket of pears also. Debbie in Nebr. Guest guest
Hello from a lurker in the Panhandle of Florida, warding off tropical cyclones. My DH and I are ovo-lacto. It's hot and humid, and I'll be happy to have fall arrive, to be able to open my windows and get some fresh air. Perhaps my tomatoes will perk up when it's cooler. However, I have a bumper crop of jalapenos, and have been making fresh pico de gallo all summer long, (but not with my own tomatoes:( I have 2 elderly cats - Pewter ~19 with hyperthyroid problems and KayDee ~15, who has just been diagnosed with hypertension! And yes, they do use a little cuff to take the readings! This afternoon I brewed up a large pot of vegetable soup. Leftover veg, lots of onion. I can't make a soup without tomatoes, so I should rather call it tomato vegetable soup. I have discovered Stevia, and I've enjoyed all the posts about its use. Hot soup, teas and spicy salsas are great for hot weather, so the veg of the summer is those jalapenos! Regards, Robin
Guest guest
Hello all. Joey Van Buren is still part of the group here in the hills of North East Los Angeles overlooking the beautiful Arroyo Seco. I love cooking, baking and gardening. My latest and greatest love in the garden is using my dishwater for irrigation. The plants (that are not xeric) LOVE the extra drinks and thank me for them with new growth and blooms. I'm falling in love with collard greens all over again. Though I was born and raised in L.A., my father is from South Carolina and has instilled in me a great appreciation for southern cuisine. Of course I have updated my recipes to be vegan at no consequence to the flavors. If you haven't tried greens, I suggest you do so immediately. There is truly no substitue for the amazing energy one gets after eating a big dish of them with black eyed peas, cornbread and stewed tomatoes. Don't forget the sweet tea, too! Happy Autumn everyone!!! --- On Sun, 9/7/08, drpatsant <drpatsant wrote: drpatsant <drpatsant ROLL CALL - AND QUESTION OF THE WEEK Sunday, September 7, 2008, 1:28 PM Moving into a new season and a fresh way of looking at the group (Changes ahead? Could be!) your moderators need to know how many of you are still out there. Would you, therefore, please respond to this message and, while you are doing so, tell us a little about yourself - e.g. where you are now and what you like to do, etc. ALSO, for the sake of discussion and interest, please take a moment to answer the query below. QUESTION: What vegetable or fruit have you tried for the first time or rediscovered over the summer (or winter, of course, if you're below the equator)? What is it? If none (really?), then what is your favourite that you have eaten of most? The more participation the better in this group, so let's hear from you! Guest guest
Craig here in beautiful Burnaby, British Columbia! Vegan, part-time college student and full time private music teacher. When I'm not studying, teaching or preparing for lessons, I tend a 1,000 square foot allotment garden. This year the beets fought a loosing battle with field mice and the early blight wiped out the tomatoes before any were remotely ripe. I'm trying a Snack Jack pumpkin that is grown only for it's seeds. Also had a bumper crop of cucumbers which means a couple dozen pints of dill pickles. Totally new for me and the garden were purple and white carrots. The purple were delicious raw and cooked and the white were terrific in a stew, but too strong tasting raw. Cheers, Craig Tompkins http://craigtompkins.musicteachershelper.com
