Guest guest
This Question Of The Week is really from Marie (but she is having a problem with her computer technician/s right now, so I'm sending it on): If you have vegetarian/vegan children, do you find they face any problems from their peers? Okay, group, let's hear how it is out there for our youngest honorary members! Best from all of us - Marie, Pat, Piers (Co-owners, Vegetarian Spice) --- The world is a stage, but the play is badly cast.(Oscar Wilde)
Guest guest
Well I don't have children yet though in my own experience, I did have a hard time specially if I would be the only one who is a vegetarian. Most of the time they forget that there is a vegetarian with them thus I end up alone or doing things differently. But i was able to cope that problem when I reached out to them and letting them experience how it is to be vegetarian. It was a struggle but eventually it could be won. Guest guest
I have two young boys (3 and 5) who are vegetarian (DH is not). Right now they will ask people if they are vegetarian or chicken. I don't think they really know, yet, that they are different than the mainstream. I suppose once they start bringing lunches to school it may be more obvious. My whole family is vegetarian so they have a lot of support there. We also live in a very multicultural city so being different isn't really all that different!! For myself growing up it wasn't really that hard. Maybe I liked being different?!? I grew up in the middle of " pig country " and many of my friends lived on pig farms. No one had a major issue with it although some people did get offended ( " what have you got against meat? " . Not sure why.
