Guest guest Posted September 19, 2008 Report Share Posted September 19, 2008 Ok but remember no measuring cups She uses bowls ( like cereal bowls) 1 bowl of onions chopped small 1/2 bowl Garbanzo beans( soak overnight) 1 bowl of rinsed lentils 3 Cinnamon sticks 2 pinches of saffron threads crushed and toasted salt and pepper to taste 5-6 large tomatoes skinned and seeded (or a Large can of crushed tomatoes) 2 tablespoons tomatoes paste 3 large glasses of water 1/2 bunch cilantro ( chopped stems removed) 1 bunch parsley ( chopped stems removed) 1 table spoon turmeric 3 gloves garlic ( saute in a little olive oil) Heat olive oil in large stockpot. Puree onion and garlic in food processor. Add to pot and saute. Puree tomatoes and add along with another dash of olive oil Either finely chop or puree parsley and cilantro (w/ tomatoes) and add Add salt, pepper, paprika, turmeric,cin. sticks (and saffron if desired- I do) Add water and tomato paste Bring to a boil and add lentils and beans Let simmer 1 1/2 hours or so. If too thick, add water.
