She uses bowls ( like cereal bowls)

3 Cinnamon sticks

2 pinches of saffron threads crushed and toasted

salt and pepper to taste

1 bunch parsley ( chopped stems removed)

1 table spoon turmeric

3 gloves garlic ( saute in  a little olive oil)

Heat olive oil in large stockpot.

Puree onion and garlic in food processor. Add to pot and saute.

Puree tomatoes and add along with another dash of olive oil

Either finely chop or puree parsley and cilantro (w/ tomatoes) and add

Add salt, pepper, paprika, turmeric, cin. sticks (and saffron if desired- I do)

Add water and  tomato paste

Bring to a boil and add lentils and beans

Let simmer 1 1/2 hours or so.

If too thick, add water. If too thin, add flour/water paste

Fantastic, Robin - and no prob over the measurements really - one just needs to

be consistent and to taste seasonings carefully!

Thanks so much. I love soups and shall be trying this one (along with some

others that have recently appeared on this group in the last few days) soon!

Yum!!!
