Hi Piers,

I think one of the main problems - well, for me anyway - with

proprietary meals (out of a jar, can, frozen package) soon get rather

boring, unless of course for decidedly conventional 6 yr olds :) Buy

your favourite pasta sauce and use it for every pasta-type dish,

including lasagna, other baked noodle dishes, spaghetti, etc., and it

will all taste the same except for the mix of vegetables you add to

the pasta. But make it yourself and you use the appropriate one to

each kind of dish, don't you. My point here would be that one feels

unsatisfied (or at least I do) with 'boring' food, and not-hungry with

tasty and different food. Or am I just weird???

Of course, for a VERY quick pasta sauce you/we can use a can of

crushed tomatoes along with two or three cloves of garlic (or garlic

from a jar - or even garlic granules), a small onion (or dried onion

flakes), a handful of available herbs (or a few sprinkles of a variety

of dried ones), and if we like it (and this IS a spice group!) a

little crushed chilie paste from a jar - let that simmer together for

around five minutes or until those onion have cooked and then, if

needed, zap it a bit with a blender wand. It makes more and is a lot

cheaper than the jarred stuff :)

On that note, I think I'd better post again with a different subject

line :)

Love and hugs, Pat
