Guest guest
Pat the crust for this pie was a simple short crust so Vegans should be able to do a version, Butter Beans are large creamy white Lima beans and yes I need to decide how to spice it up! I am thinking about curry at the moment :-) The Dragon (aka High Priestess Enchanting Even weave) Current stitching - Map of Durham, Cat Ornaments, The Hikers, Green Man http://tempewytch.blogspot.com/ http://tempewytch.diaryland.com/

Guest guest
Hi Dragon - About the crust: I avoid added fats, so that's what I was meaning But ya know, there's avoidance and then there's obsession, and no need for me to be obsessive. Once in a while a nice shortcrust pie crust won't hurt a bit - and think how I might enjoy it LOL *evil grin* Yes, I think a 'curry' flavouring would be really interesting! Or perhaps something else I could try too. I'll think on it. My dh, when I mentioned your post to him, was all keen to try a lima bean pie, so it won't be long until we give it a shot Thanks a mil - from him too - Love and hugs, Pat ________________________________ The Dragon <dragonsteeluk Sunday, December 14, 2008 11:06:45 AM Re: Butter Bean Pie Pat the crust for this pie was a simple short crust so Vegans should be able to do a version, Butter Beans are large creamy white Lima beans and yes I need to decide how to spice it up! Guest guest
I don't see why not Lyne - in fact I was wondering about mixing a can of butter beans and a can of chick peas (garbanzo?) and mixing in some Harrissa paste or Morrocan spices, might try that next week! Re the rice/soy crust - never having cooked with either of these I don't know - sorry The Dragon (aka High Priestess Enchanting Even weave) Current stitching - Map of Durham, Cat Ornaments, The Hikers, Green Man http://tempewytch.blogspot.com/ http://tempewytch.diaryland.com/ --- On Sun, 14/12/08, Lyne Blodgett <minpinrescue wrote: Lyne Blodgett <minpinrescue Re: Butter Bean Pie Sunday, 14 December, 2008, 5:19 PM Large creamy white beans - would you be able to cannelini beans? Guest guest
A rice-soy piecrust? Sounds ingenious. I've never made one! Share? Love and hugs, Pat --- The world is a stage, but the play is badly cast.(Oscar Wilde)
