Sorry, I should have been more clear! We've adopted a German Shephard

and named her Cody, and then adopted a fiesty cat and named her

Rhubarb! We DO have six of the regular kind of kids, lol! I have two,

Terry has four. And, um, all of them have more normal names!

Vickie, who is enjoying this group and all there is to offer!

Hey, kidz iz kidz, and furkidz have names just as do skinkidz :) I LOVE Rhubarb

for a name (although I was placing bets with myself that it would turn out to be

a bunny). We nearly named our second beagle Cody but she chose her own name.

So nice to have lots of people here who love their companion animals - they are

very special for many many reasons. Good luck with the kat - ours rules the

household!

Love, Pat and the furkidz

Ah! LOL

Well I kind of liked the idea of naming a child Rhubarb.

With a name like Kathy (my usual moniker), doesn't it only make sense

that I would be drawn to more uncommon names? Half my friends are

named Kathy.

Kate, whose sons, age 20 and 16, are named Emil and Everett

How did our second beagle choose her own name? Well, it goes like this: We were

told her name, but she didn't answer to it, didn't even blink when it was

called, seemed not to understand it was a name, then we inquired again and were

told she'd never answered to her 'name'. It was Augusta, and although it's a

charming old name I might have rebelled against it too. Soooooo.

Started to find new names, but meanwhile we had to call her something or other

between ourselves other than 'Casey's new friend' or 'the dog'. So we used a

name that, on the Island of Bali (where we used to go frequently back when), is

for the second child in the family (in a series of four - as in, once you've run

through the four names you start at No. 1 again - difficult to understand, but

it works), that name being Made' (pronounced MAH-deh, with accent on both

syllables). So we'd say, 'Have you taken Made' out yet, etc. etc.' while we were

trying out all the possible doggie names to find if there was one which she

might have thought was hers. No go. But one day I said 'What about Made'?'

(meaning Child No. 2) and the little dear wagged her tail and came running, so,

as I say, she named herself.

TMI? Probably true. But we lost the little darling mid-June last year,

complications of pancreatitis, so I am unblushingly sentimental about her. I

miss her dreadfully every day.

Love, Pat

Interesting, Pat; I *did* have a dog named Cody.

This was when I was a teen yet. Big, fluffy, white

dog who I nicknamed " code bucket " (Since when is a

nickname longer than the real name? LOL). Sadly,a

hunter shot her in the woods behind our house. :(

Not at all. Thanks for taking the time.

Sorry to hear she's gone on to that big farmyard in the sky.
