'shroom broth powder! (and an OT plug)

Fellow mushroom junkies, I found a Shiitake mushroom-broth powder that's

fairly cheap

even with shipping, and got good Amazon reviews. I've been looking for

something

like this for awhile now. *http://tinyurl.com/dfcege ** *

I know Knorr sells mushroom bouillon cubes in Europe, but not over here,

and

while they're usually a decent brand, I honestly don't like their

vegetable bouillon

cube*s*, so I don't know how the 'shroom ones would be. Anyone know?*

*There's

also supposed to be a Lithuanian version of 'shroom-broth powder, but

haven't been

able to find it; the site often mentioned, www.valgiai.com, apparently

no longer has it.

*

*PS--The link above was originally HUGE. If y'all haven't yet

discovered TinyURL.com ,

it's one of the really clever things on the Web. Works like this: you

go there, plug in a

huge URL (web address), and it gives you a small one in its place.

Someone accesses

that one, and the TinyURL server redirects 'em, fairly rapidly, to the

site they want.

Here's the TinyURL site: *www.tinyurl.com*

You just found another mushroom junkie :) Can you tell me, please, what

ingredients and nutritional info are on the package? I can't seem to find that

on the net - must be hitting all the wrong keys. And is it vegan?

Thanks a bunch!

Love, Pat

Scroll down--it's lower down the page of the Amazon blurb.

I have never seen the cubes in France. They do sell a mushroom based stock

in a pot but unfortunately I believe that it also contains a base of veal

stock. I'll have to check on that.

Thanks - nearly missed that! Still can't see where they tell things like sodium

content, but I'll look again. Mushroom broth is wonderful for flavour - and

sometimes it's just not possible to keep in a stock of homemade.

These trace elements are always a problem! I'd been using a particular

brand of onion soup for about a year, then the other day in an idle

moment I got round to reading the " May contain traces of " bit on the

pack (expecting to find nuts, eggs etc.) and discovered that it might

contain traces of fish and crustaceans. Hmm.

Check out Ebay for:

Knorr Broth Vegetarian Mushroom Stock Soup Cube 480 g

It comes from Thailand but looks like the real thing. Thanks for the

info about tinyurl too!
