Look, let's not ANY of us take digs at each other's eating styles,

Correct?

We're all here because we're trying to eat low on the food chain, and

Hi Rain,

I've liked your posts over time. Very helpful.

Let me say my intent was not to snark at any food choice. Please go back and

re-read what I wrote.

The discussion near the top was agreeing that it seemed like using a name like

pollotarian would be more accurate than ovo-vegetarian (which is defined as I

eat only vegetarian, but oh, yes, I also eat the eggs of animals) and then I

also tried to put some humor in. Like pescatarian, pollotarian would say " I eat

this high on the food chain and lower. "

Agreed, we're here trying to eat low on the food chain. Sorry if the humor went

awry.

Steady on, Rain! LOL I think John was referring to the _terms_ pollo-veg and

pesco-veg, not the lifestyle. However, we have no obligation on a vegetarian

group to support people in eating animal flesh - indeed to be consistent with

our beliefs we should discourage it and encourage a vegetarian lifestyle.

Nevertheless non-vegetarians are welcome here provided they do not talk about

eating non-veg items and respect our veg principles and lifestyle - that's a

given. Some of our oldest and most valued members are non-veggie, as you

realize.

It's generous of you to try to stand up for perceived 'snarking', as you put it

(I don't quite read it that way, but I may be being particularly opaque this

lovely afternoon.) But I think you can feel safe leaving the policing of the

group to Piers and to me? That's what we're unpaid for LOL We have zero

tolerance for attacks against other members, as this kind of thing can quickly

deteriorate into ad hominen arguments. That's another reason why we ask that the

eating of animal flesh NOT be discussed on the group, you see? But if we ban any

hint of it, then we are 'guilty' of being too 'hands on' blah blah blah. *sigh*

Okay, guys, as you were.

And thanks for caring, Rain. Relax, John, I'm sure I read you correctly.

Love, Pat
