Guest guest
>East coast, Yorkshire Good choice! (I live in Kingston-upon-Hull). A shame the public transport not so good as I'd love to explore the villages at this end of the coast. I've been to Scarborough a few times though, I love sitting in the grounds of the castle. Guest guest
Hi there Annabelle, and welcome to Vegetarian Slimming :=) You will probably find people on this list who are all various stages of being vegetarian, including some who are not at all but are interested in eating more vegetables for their health. Try out some of our recipes in the Files section. Also, perhaps, take a moment to visit Polls? That'd be great. It's good to hear from you and I hope you have some recipes you'd like to share with us. I'm working on a few right now to pass on to the group as a New Year's pressie *lol* All best wishes - and abe sure to keep posting!! Even i, as someone who is fortunate enough to be surrounded by vegans at work and at home, know the feeling. Anyway, there is a really excellent and active group of people in Solihull. Guest guest
Hi Simon, There are loads of us around If it's possible, get along to a vegan gathering. Here's a few examples: http://www.veganfestivals.org.uk/ http://www.veganfestival.freeserve.co.uk/ http://www.veggies.org.uk/arc/event.php?ref=130 You could also get in touch with the vegan society who can give you details of your nearest vegan society contact. Guest guest
Hi there Bruce and Jennifer :=) Nice to have you here. I'm in London, Ontario, and before we returned/retired to Canada in 1999 we lived in Sydney for 25 years. How about that! LOL Okay, you're doing well already replacing me*t with vegetable protein. With TVP it's pretty easy to just substitute it for the ground animal stuff in recipes such as chilli sin carne and a vegetarian spaghetti bolognese. The chunky tvp is good for stews and soups. I prefer firm tofu for other things, but it's a matter of taste. There are plenty of great recipes in the Files and of course you can ask all the questions you want! Congratulations on making the switch to vegetarianism - you won't regret it! And I look forward to chatting to you on this list. Guest guest
Hi Pat, I'm sorry to take so long replying but it was a combination of my inbox being clogged and not having access to a computer on a regular basis. We are really enjoying all the options available to us in the in vegetarian foods. People have no idea how tasty the different grains are. We are exploring all the different things we become aware of. The nice part of this is that we have each lost about 15 pounds - nothing to sneeze at. We find the different beans and TVP's to be very satisfying. We don't get hungry between meals. In the evenings we enjoy a simple snack. We make our own Yoghurt and sprout Mung beans on the kitchen counter. Very healthy. I find it interesting that you lived in Sydney. I assume you mean Oz. My wife is from Brisbane. Cheers Bruce and Jenn vegetarianslimming <veggiehound wrote: Hi there Bruce and Jennifer :=) Nice to have you here. People have no idea how tasty the different grains are. That's good to hear - can you tell us some of the grains you've been trying? I'm limited, I'm afraid, in imagination on grains - although I like to use quinoa in lieu of rice occasionally, bulgur wheat for a variety of things, barley in soups, millet in stew, but after that . . . >The nice part of this is that we have each lost about 15 pounds - nothing to sneeze at. We find the different beans and TVP's to be very satisfying. We don't get hungry between meals. Excellent news! Good for you - One can eat very very well *and* be healthy *and* lose weight as a vegetarian (if weight loss is what one is after) as long as things that put on weight are avoided, such as a lot of fats (incl. veg fat), sugars, refined flour etc., and, frankly, although I hesitatae to mention it, too much in the way of sweet fruits and overindulgence in fatty nuts and even fatty fruit like avocado. Moderation, eh? > I find it interesting that you lived in Sydney. I assume you mean Oz. My wife is from Brisbane. Yes, nearly 25 years there :=) Best to Jenn - Pat

Guest guest
Hi Annie and welcome! Congrats on having the men vegetarian with you! My partner and I also try to tread lightly on the earth and use organic household products. We are lucky enough to live in an agriculturally rich area of California so are blessed with yummy organic produce year round. In fact we receive a box of goodies every week from one local organic farm. There are many animal lovers in our group as well. We have one dog Jack, and 2 cats, Luna & Ivy Noel. Guest guest
I feel like a 21 year old! I am very active all the time from 4:30 am to night! Numbers are just that-Numbers! It's all how you feel! Going vegetarian has made a big difference, energy wise, skin, hair, everything. We are very cautious about foods and the additives used in them. We have researched them for years. The same with cleaning products and medicine. We don't take any drugs at all. We treat ourselves organically with herbs and teas. We don't have any health problems. No pop, koolaid, junk food, fast food, canned food, etc. Anything processed. This works for us. Annie arisa sandu <larisa2fast4u wrote: Welcome!
