Guest guest
Respectfully, I disagree. 1. I am thriving on Dr. Atkins' vegetarian, high protein,low-carb diet! 2. I believe TPTB are trying to ruin our health & that the study was a lie. 3. My triglycerides dropped from 500 to 200 when I quit all breads for 4 weeks! 4. I have energy and feel wonderful at 65, after surviving 10 heart attacks! 5. I became a vegetarian in 1974, my 3 brothers didn't, they died before 50. 6. For my diabetes, I recently started eating cedar berries (24 daily) & insulin needs dropped by 40 UNITS A DAY! 7. A vegan atkins' diet would look like this: Oatmeal, fruit, avocados, nuts & fresh salads 8. I eat the same but also lots of cheese and cream in my coffee and with fruit and butter in my oatmeal. A bonus - I lost twenty pounds. 9. Dr. Atkins' died of a fall and head concussion at 74 and great health. 10. Dr. Atkins' website is helpful and free - others charge $$$ 11. I drink herb teas, especially bee balm & golden rod flower from my yard. Lowers appetite. 12. I do OIL PULLING & it will save the world -- google it! Cold Pressed Oils! I hope this helps. I do vegan fasts occasionally. I see vegans with rotten teeth and vegetarians who are obese and sick. Be careful. I feel wonderful! After a year w/o bread, I eat one slice a day. It's worth it! --- On Mon, 9/21/09, Eric <rigel wrote: Eric <rigel Re: Health Matters: Study re low-carb diets Monday, September 21, 2009, 2:50 AM  On Sun, 20 Sep 2009 17:17:53 -0700 (PDT) " drpatsant " <drpatsant > wrote: > I know that 'high protein' diets are pretty well > incompatible with the vegan way - although I do know some > who have tried it - there can still be an attempt to keep > the carbs low with some who want to lose weight. The findings also showed that the diet led to an impaired ability to form new blood vessels in tissues deprived of blood flow, as might occur during a heart attack. Not at all surprising. As far as I'm concerned, a low-carb diet is strictly for those who consider appearances to be of far greater importance than health. The diets are anything but healthy. Guest guest
I think that you might be like my cousin; she used to have weight problems, but thought she was doing well until she discovered that she is carbohydrate intolerant. She lost a huge amount of weight by drastically limiting carbs, especially simple carbs like white rice, flour, etc. She also told me that she quit feeling hungry all of the time. Sounds like you are trying to follow the kind of diabetic diet that my husband, a type II diabetic, tries to follow. Kathleen Veggie for over 30 years > 1. Guest guest
CT great post with another side that needed to be said. So tell us or me more about the bee balm, golden rod flower and the cedar berries.  'Do what thou wilt, but harm none'. Each individual is responsible for discovering his or her own true nature and developing it fully, in harmony with the outer world.  Goddess Bless. ________________________________ CT <oahspe2002 Monday, September 21, 2009 7:03:29 AM Re: Health I thrive on low-carb diets!  Respectfully, I disagree. 1.
