Guest guest
Hi linda and welcome to the group - hope I remember the little " l " all the time! Thank you for taking the trouble to answer our questionnaire, the extra information you give is indicative of a true vegan, and I hope you will be happy with us - a mixed bag of vegan, ovo-lacto and " just interested " ! The respect for all sentient beings is something I recognize too, which means for the most point avoiding zoos, circuses (except e.g. the Chinese-style), dolphin shows and all the rest, as well as being careful in dealing with all the spiders and geckos that wander into the house! But I never made it to vegan! Looking forward to seeing your posts on the list. Best, Piers (co-owner with Pat) The answers: 1. Which description best fits your situation? - I am a vegetarian who eats no eggs, dairy or, usually, honey (vegan) Yes, this is me, plus I do not use any product that has any animal products in them or has been tested on animals. I am a vegan. 2. What is your main reason for choosing a vegetarian or vegan way of life? - Concern for the animals This is my reason, I don't eat my beloveds, I don't take the life or benefit from the taking of a life from another sentient being that enjoys life as much as I do. 3. Is your household totally vegetarian? If not, do you find you need to produce non-vegetarian meals some of the time? Yes, everyone in the house is either vegan or vegetarian. I never allow meat or meat by products to be used in the house. 4. Do you like hot and spicy food? If not, what is your favourite kind of food? Depends on how hot they are...I like salty foods, Asian style foods, tofu. 5. Is there anything else you would like to tell us (such as your country or region, age group, household pets/companion animals, hobbies, activities, interests, indoor and outdoor sports, etc.)? Let's hear it! I rescue cats, take care of feral cats, volunteer at a Dining Room that provides restaurant style meals to those that need them for free. I also knit winter neck scarves year around to be given out to the homeless. And NOW, please sign with your name or a nickname so that we will know you are! linda, with a little l. Guest guest
Thank you for the warm welcome. Looking forward to gleaning the information from others that they feel comfortable in sharing. I do know what you mean about the zoos and circuses. Wonder how we will like it when aliens land here and think we are odd specimens of animals and cage us up or have us for a snack. LOL But to be serious, nowadays it is just plain easy to be a vegan and to have choices that are animal free and no testing either in both the food world and the non-food world. Just plain easy. linda On Behalf Of Piers Clement Friday, October 02, 2009 1:30 PM Welcome to new member linda Hi linda and welcome to the group - hope I remember the little " l " all the time!
