Guest guest
My husband's nickname has to do with cooking, for the most part, as most of it goes up in smoke. He could start a fire with nothing. The biggest part of it comes from when he tries to Barbecue, anything, the charcoals will still be pretty much coal black, and the smoke is just rolling off of the food. The fire alarm in the house will go off on him when he boils water. He is not allowed to touch the stove, the lawn, or the grill....lol. Take Care Melanie. ________________________________ Fw: File - Vegetarian Spice Questionnaire For All New Members - Welcome to Melanie! Welcome to the group, Melanie, and thanks for the Questionnaire I'm pasting it in below so other members can know about you. You're by far not the only one here who is in transition to vegetarian or vegan, and we do understand it's not necessarily something that everyone can do overnight. Take your time and know that others here can advise on anything about which you are not sure, okay? Also, don't be put off by ideas you may have read that this is an all-or-nothing proposition. There are various stages on the path to vegetarianism and veganism, and many of us have worked our way through many of them, slowly or quickly, whatever was best for us. We are all different and no one else knows the situations of our lives as we do ourselves, eh? So good luck with all of this - and feel free also to write me personally if you wish - although it's often better on the list since I'm only one person out of very very many! Enjoy the group and do please post often. I'm going to be interested to know how Smokey (love that nickname) does on a vegetarian-oriented diet. There are many medical doctors who would say that it - or more precisely a _vegan_ diet - could be a major issue in his regaining his health. I do so hope so. (I know that my husband has been able to go off medication for high blood pressure in the years since he has become vegan - fwiw - although that wasn't his reason for choosing that lifestyle.) As for yourself, by all means it doesn't hurt anyone to work towards a healthier way of eating. This is quite apart, of course, from other reasons for choosing to be vegetarian. What have I left out? My dh and are to be found in southwestern Ontario, Canada (when we're not travelling abroad), with our little blind beagle girl, Casey, and Misha The Cat Who Rules. My dh and I are both retired and in such excellent health that our doctor is envious. (How nice for us, you say, but yes it is. LOL) We have both been vegan for some years, and lately we have been eating high raw - which is to say that we try for around 80 to 90 per cent of calories per day (or on average over a week) raw/uncooked food. It gives us a lot of energy. I'm not sure, however, whether we'll be able to continue this through the winter months. We'll see. No biggie. Best of luck.
