Guest guest
Patricia Is there no end to all of this? --- So now we are supposed to be afraid of lead poisoning from Balsamic and Red Wine vinegars! California has to post that these have potential toxicity unless they have something like less than 35ppm of lead. It would seem that all the long term aged vinegars are so affected! ---
Guest guest
i saw Prop 65 warning in the vinegar aisle a number of years back, but none recently..last year or three anyways that i recall. grapes take up lead occuring in the soil (both naturally and from pollution). this of course then means it will later be found in the balsamic vinegar. it also means it will be found in the wine. prop 65 here in california mandates that ANYTHING that might possibly cause cancer or has a link to cancer, has to be labled as such. guilty until proven innocent. better safe then sorry... but, as for lead in balsamic....i would guess you'd get a higher dose of it by handling sometyhing vinyl and then not washing your hands. or just by taking a breathe in Los Angeles................
