ROLL CALL AND A QUESTION - *PLEASE CLICK IN HERE*

I am so confused by what the heck is really good for me to eat as a diabetic. I

know vegan is best but that's really for people who have money. I'm working

hard on the veggie-ism thing but that's difficult as I don't eat beans or

mushrooms! I like this group as I can find recipes that I actually eat. Thanks

so much.

Time for a Roll Call, folks! Just send a quick answer to the question

below and we will know you're still reading stuff on Vegetarian Spice! Okay?

Here goes (and it's an easy one):

Q: What's your favourite kind of bread?

If you never but never eat the stuff and/or have never liked it, tell us what

your favourite colour is or your favourite companion animal - just as long as

you tell us something you like, okay? And smile - it's not snowing everywhere

(yet),

Thanks for playing along!

Had to look up Allinson Bread. Found this in Wikipedia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Allinson

Is it expensive?

I've never seen it - or maybe I've just overlooked it when in the UK or Europe

or wherever they sell lit.

My grannie used to by Hovis bread and for years I thought that was the best

bread in the world. I might have been right.

grain the better - sometimes get Allinson bread for a treat but it's not

something I would want every day. I used to collect dark blue things (e.g.

bottles of a certain kind of mineral water, vases etc.) but this phase seems to

have stopped, but will choose this colour if forced to a choice. No companion

animals.

Grainy and seedy breads - I loved this one called Roggenschrotbrot made by a

bakery in San Francisco (that I can't find a recipe for!). Also non-sweet

walnut bread.

I have two favorites. Costco has artisan breads and they have a wonderful

vegan multigrain bread in that category.

There is a small German bakery in Ft Lauderdale that makes vegan, organic

whole grain breads. I like several varieties of the breads they make.

I usually eat whole grain, but I also love stuff baked in bread. I love

banana bread, garlic bread, chocolate bread, olive bread, spicy jalapeno

bread.... :0

I love banana and walnut loaf too but I try not to make it too often as I

love it with lashings of butter and I have a constant battle with my weight.

LOL!!

I also love malt fruit loaf but cannot buy the malt here in France to make

that.

I love old fashioned english granary bread which is light brown with

grains and a slightly malted flavour, and white bread with a crisp crust and

soft inside. Haven't had either for years.

OK--

My favorite bread is..........

    Drum roll please!

Homebrew.  Oh yeah!  Like liquid bread, almost the perfect food.

As a plus, the spent grains from brewing can be used in bread AND in biscuits

for your favorite four-legged friend.  Also, they can be tossed into the yard

for birds to enjoy.

Having said this, I hope to be brewing an Irish stout in the afternoon

tomorrow.  It'll be 32F here in Oklahoma....perfect brewing weather.

Cheers-

Chad in Tulsa
