Guest guest
Hi Maggie and WELCOME! My fav site is www.vegweb.com. They have a ton of recipes there with comments from people who have tried them. My fav recipe book right now is Vegan Planet by Robin Robertson, but then again it is because it is new. Feel free to join in any conversation or ask any questions you may have. We're all happy to help! Nikki , " maggiemacg " <maggiemacg wrote: > > Hi > > I just joined the list. Guest guest
Welcome to the group Brandee! I do hope that you enjoy it I know I sure do. So you live in Brookings WOW. Brookings sure has grown a lot from a small quiet town when I lived there. I could go on and on about coastal living but it is not the right place so if you like you can private mail me. But I am glad you found this group and as I said I really do hope you like it here as much as I do. Katie Kymberlee <kymberlee wrote: Hello My nickname is Brandee, I am in my 40's and live in Brookings, OR. I have been vegetarian for 16 years, and vegan off and on, permanently on now. I have a few pounds to lose, a few health problems to shed. So after reading Dr. McDougall's books, here I am. I am owned by two Boston Terriers, my husband is owned by 3 cats. My husband is not a veg or vegan. Though he eats that way at home, since I do the cooking! I love the ocean, knitting, gardening and reading. Not necessarily in that order. I am looking forward to finding some new recipes and sharing old ones and making new friends Brandee
Guest guest
Welcome, Iza. And a great big hug for what you have been through. I am sure you will find loads of encouragement here and some wonderful recipes from some wonderful people. Sue from the Mountains of Georgia (where it is going down to 37 degrees tonight. BRRRRR!) ---- Izaskun Fuentes Milani 9/29/2006 9:48:32 PM new member Hello! I am a new member--and a brand new vegetarian! My name is Iza. I live in the Washington, DC suburbs with my three daughters and my fiance. I finished my treatments for breast cancer six weeks ago. Things look good, and having a healthy lifestyle is about the only thing I can do now to improve my chances of long-term survival (besides, of course, regular checkups). This is what made me decide, just yesterday, to become a vegetarian. I had been thinking about it before, but yesterday I attended a presentation by someone from The Cancer Project and that was the little push I needed to make the decision. Before I did eat meat and fish, but I have always been veggie-friendly, so I hope it won't be too difficult. I love cooking, so I hope to be able to contribute very soon. I look forward to reading you all! Iza
Guest guest
Hi, and welcome! I'm glad you're pursuing ways to heal. I think a good diet is the best help for many ailments. I'm glad your treatments went well for you! I was pretty well freaked out by the huge number of recipes in the files section. There are tons of really good-looking ones there. I have just found out that there are now electric pressure cookers! Who knew? The only pressure cooker I've ever seen was my mother's old one, and that thing always scared me. I have to look in Target, as I would love to see the new pressure cookers. Would save a lot of time in the kitchen. Have a great day, and see ya in the group! Guest guest
Hi Jen, welcome to the garden of earthly delights! How wonderful for you to make this decision! You'll get any help needed here. Are the kids going veg as well? If so, do research now so when you get slammed for not letting the poor loves have chemically and mechanically rendered meat by products mixed with chemicals, you'll be prepared. You will be shocked when you start reading food labels with a vegetarian's eyes and discover so many foods that appear to be veggie safe have beef fat or other animal products hiding wthin them. It is an exciting path you have chosen, I've been a lacto-ovo veg for over 20 years now and never never get tired of the choices I have. Again, welcome to the group, Jeanne in GA who has never heard of Mad Broccoli disease Everyone is raving about the all-new Mail beta.
